Alnoor combines a talent for enabling economic growth and corporate success in the High Tech Industry with over 23 years of proven achievement as an entrepreneur, venture capitalist, business strategist and leader. Alnoor co-founded Smart Seed as a leading early stage venture capital fund partnering a loyal group of venture partners, associates, and investors with an extensive network of high tech business management and marketing expertise. Alnoor was featured in The Globe and Mail Report on Business in 2000 and in Business in Vancouver in 2000 and 2001.
Alnoor’s international business achievements encompass venture capital, institutional and angel investing, banking, software development/manufacturing, tourism/hospitality, real estate and franchise partnering. Alnoor’s experience in translating abstract ideas into winning business strategies continues to be a major cornerstone of his success. Prior to moving to Canada in 1993, Alnoor founded the Trade Bank Group in Kenya, a commercial banking institution that received numerous business awards for innovation. He also established Insight Computer/Data Centre Ltd., led the strategic turnaround of Diners Club Cititbank and introduced Diners World Travel to the Kenyan market. North American achievements include the creation of FamilyWare International Inc., an Internet-based organization supporting Microsoft, Compaq and Sony product lines. Alnoor currently sits on several boards and has investments in the Hawthorne Suites Hotel in Calgary, and several technology companies.
Alnoor holds a Finance Degree from the Liverpool University and received his Chartered Accountant Designation while working for Harold Everett & Co. of London, England. A life long commitment to professional development has led to participation in Citibank’s Credit Risk, Collections and Marketing courses as well as mergers and acquisition training at YPO University. Alnoor’s professional affiliations include the Canadian Venture Capital Association, the Vancouver Enterprise Forum, the British Columbia Technology Association, Business In Vancouver, ViRTUS and the Vancouver Board of Trade. Alnoor, his three children and wife Rubina, a practicing attorney are dedicated members of the Ismaili community. Alnoor is also extremely well traveled having visited over 80 countries worldwide. His long-term vision is to create an active early stage venture fund that will work in partnership with other sources of venture capital to develop world-class technology companies with a global market impact.
